About us
Early Challenges, Lasting Impact:
Born on February 21, 1978, my earliest years were shaped by profound adversity. At age 8, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and I endured severe emotional abuse at home. When I was just 9, I attempted suicide—a heartbreaking moment fueled by illness and an absence of understanding. My school years were no different; the educational system’s lack of mental health awareness only amplified my feelings of isolation.
My twenties brought health challenges, economic distress, custody battles, broken relationships, and substance abuse. After marriage, my circumstances led to a decade-long struggle with cocaine addiction, while chronic physical ailments took their toll. Yet, 2018 marked a turning point: isolated, at rock bottom, I found renewed faith and strength in God’s message—"I am not done with you yet." Motivated by this divine intervention, I committed to recovery and embarked on a period of intense healing, both physically and mentally.
With my recovery came clarity: my struggles had shaped me for a reason. In July 2018, I founded Metta Association, a nonprofit committed to issues closest to my journey: Black male mental health, breaking cycles of recidivism, and promoting responsible fatherhood. Through Metta Association, my mission is to ensure no Black man feels unsupported in his battles.
After my divorce, I relocated to Texas to expand Metta Association’s impact. Today, we organize food drives, public outreach, empowerment workshops, and mentor youth in partnership with Lancaster ISD—so no young man slips through the cracks.
Two years ago, I faced homelessness—an experience that, rather than defeat me, deepened my faith and understanding of hardship. Overcoming addiction reaffirmed that with faith, support, and perseverance, anything is possible. These values are at the heart of my nonprofit, Metta Association.
As a certified life coach, mentor, writer, influencer, and CEO, I share my experiences to inspire others to reclaim their hope and rewrite their stories. I am currently penning my first book, offering real tools and testimony for anyone seeking recovery and renewal.
In addition to my work with Metta Association, I remain deeply committed to advancing mental health awareness and support through my political campaigns, social activism, and community-driven initiatives. My mission is to bring transformative change at every level—empowering individuals, influencing public policy, and driving social action for meaningful mental health reform.
My purpose is to make sure no man faces darkness alone. If my story resonates, connect with me for guidance, support, or to join our movement.
